Community building at the homeless shelter

@PPCW members not only served breakfast at Crossroads Community Shelter but also spent time sitting, chatting, and playing board games with the guests. This is a great way that PPCW works to build the ECU community and widen college student world views by dispelling stereotypes associated with the homeless. #servelocal #rethinkhomelessness

Wellness (fitness and nutrition) class for staff and community of ECU

Many times students at universities are given so many opportunities to be healthy and experience things for free. But what about the community members and the staff (dining, housekeeping, etc). PPCW's solution is hosting a monthly wellness class that includes free nutrition and fitness portions. Our goal is to build more of a sense of community by nurturing interactions between students, faculty, staff, and community in a new environment in addition to improving the health of all those involved!

Got Hats, Coats or Gloves?

Cary Ballet Conservatory is having a gently used hat/coat/glove drive. They are coordinating with a Cary Ballet Alumna Kate P. who is now a local Kindergarten teacher. Her school is a Title I elementary school with 100% Free & Reduced Breakfast &  Lunch. Please look through your closets and if you have any donations please let me know. Grateful for a dance studio that helps others!

Double Blessing

In honor of throwback Thursday, this story always brings a smile.  We have a missionary friend from Western North Carolina who also is a general contractor.  He had another missionary friend whose home (in our local area) was in desperate need of some repairs.  So, we let our friend and his crew of five stay at our house (for free) while they worked long hours (for free) on the missionary's house.  They were with us for a little over a week, and we had the blessing of ministering hospitality to them (hot showers, soft beds, and hearty meals) as they ministered to the missionary.  I love seeing generosity multiplied!

Clothing Drive + Boutique

It is time to clean out the closests. Hope Community Church is hosting a Clothing Drive & Boutique at each of their four campuses. They will be turning their atrium and lobbies into a Clothing Boutique and Children's lIbrary. They are asking for "like-new" clothing and children's books to be dropped off from November 1-5 during business hours or on the weekend. They will need lots of volunteers to help get ready and make the event run smoothly. For more info visit:

Support the Travis Mills Foundation

There are so many ways to help our veterans; through our time, our finances and more.  But don't underestimate these guys ...sometimes they just step right up and "help" themselves. You just have to be amazed and inspired by the story of SSG Travis Mills...
